I entered his network password and upon connection I get a "Wi Fi has the self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet." Never had this happen before and tried googling for a solution. The quick fix was disabling his network password and then I could connect and get online no problem. does anyone have any suggestions for what appears to be a common problem?
I found various "fixes" like deleting the network info and keychain access then connecting and while that did give me a "Wi Fi connected" in the network settings I still had no internet access. another was turning wifi off, internet sharing off, then back on and creating a new network, wifi back on.. can you connect any other device like your cellphone and get on the internet? can you connect any other device like your cellphone and get on the internet?
